i have a crystal xbox and want to get it modded.

im not sure what version it is but is their a modchip that will work with all versions of crystal xbox and that is preferably solderless.

i want to get a modchip that will just let me play my backups...thats it, (i need a modchip that wont need anything else put on my hard drive)

please tell me what mod chip would be best?

if u wish to backup u have to install a dashboard to ftp. i would go with xecuter 3 if u dont care about spending the money. xeniums are risks cuz there r clones which fail. spider solderless modchip is cheap and works with all versions. Xecuter 3 is the best chip out there the other companies like smartxx put a bunch of crap there to get u to buy their chip. xenium is better than smart xx and its cheper than x3 and smartxx. hope this hel;ps :p

newbie234, I would highly suggest going with an Xecuter 3 chip. If you are worried about installing this chip yourself, check out this site to get it done professionally, http://webpages.charter.net/modchipzone/

does it matter what version it is with the executer 3 chip?

    is it easy to install?

Yup, it does matter what version you have.

Older versions (ver 1.0 & 1.1) have different D0 points compared to the ver 1.2-1.6. Also, on the ver 1.6, you need to solder some extra wires on because some of the LPC points on the board need to be connnected.

So basically, look through the guides on the site I listed above, and if you don't feel comfortable modding it yourself, then I would say send it in to get a professional install...
