cube controller on PC

hey, is there a way to do a DIY for this, without buying an adapter of the net or sumthing. i remember seing an article in the magazine showing how to do this with an Xbox controller and was as easy as stripping the wires and stripping a usb cable and matching the corrosponding wires like red green white and black. and downloading some drivers.

i got bored last night so i decided to do this to a cube controller for the hell of it, i got one of those controller extension cables and did this to that pluged it in the pc but nothing happens, so to see if i did it right i pluged the wavebird in the GC USB thing i made and the wave bird lights up and shit so it seems like its getting power and shit, My question is does any one know of drivers for this or could the drivers that come with the adapters on the net work with this, so if any one knows please let me know...
