Hi, Read the Article on burning .cue images/files on to CD-R'S. Followed the instructions and the data seemed to burn to CD-R no probs. Unfortunately when I insert the cd-r into my drive I was expecting some sort of data to appear, but nothing did. When I checked the properties of the cd-r it read:Free space 0 bytes, Total size 0 bytes. That looks like to me that there is info on the disc somewhere? I am using Nero 5, 5.5.10.0 bundled version. Thanks to all who reply
Make some tests . Read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/19071 Please note that ISOBUSTER will examine the CD telling exactly if there are data on the CD (even if there are data that a normal PC cannot read, like Audio or MODE2 data)
Thanks for the advice about ISOBUSTER. Can u help me extract the correct info so that I can run the program. After I set up Isobuster I inserted the cdr with the burned .cue file on it and the following file structure appeared. Session 1, Track 1 then two coloured boxes one read ISO then the name of the image and the second one just had the name of the image. when I open them it brings up the various data I went to the setup.exe right clicked and selected EXTRACT setup.exe put it into a folder and selected to run it. It looked like it was running fine but a dialog box appeared saying that a DLL file was missing. Any ideas. Many thanks.
You need to extract anything is on the image! If you extract only the Setup file how can the game be installed? So extract anything on a temp directory and then, after the installation, delete the files you extracted. How to do this? In Isobuster you will probably see a blue and a red pointer. You must know that the two folders are almost identical, i.e. they point to the same files. The only difference lies in the fact that - the Red one is the ISO system file (needed for DOS compatibility, i.e. it truncates the file names to 8 characters) - the Blue one is the JOLIET system file (ISO extended to log filenames). So, since I expect that the Image is for windows 32-bit, you better extract from the blue folder. Right-click on the blue pointer then choose the option 'extract (Name)'. Choose a temp folder then put anything there. You'll have a directory made of the image content as if you burned the disc and copied anything on your HD. Now you can RUN the setup.exe and install the game! Got it? Tell me if it works.
Thanks for the advice again, got further this time but not far enough. I opened up isobuster and clicked on open image clicked on the .cue file and opened it. I followed your instructions and extracted to a temp folder. I ran the setup exe and the game seemed to install ok, then it prompted me for a cd-rom. I inserted the cdr with the .cue image burn but nothing happened. tried another program but it just done the same. Any ideas? Your help is most appreciated ALDACO12, thanks.
Sorry, he setup probably requires the CD-ROM installation disk. Maybe for protection measures. Try using a CD-RW. This is your last chance to avoid wasting a CD.
He is right, man. Install Alcohol120, right-click on the 'Virtual CD/DVD-ROM' icon on the bottom of the main window then choose 'Mount image' and select your CUE (or ISO). Then try running the setup.exe from that virtual drive. Something might run better...or maybe not
Aldaco12, cd-rr.org many thanks for your help. I done what you said and mounted the .cue on virtual drive, installed the game and it worked ok, no cd prompt appeared. Anyway thought I would burn the image using Alcohol-120% at a speed of 8x and the burn seemed to work fine. When I inserted the cdr with the data that I recently burned it booted up as a blank just like my previous post. I wanted to put the data on cdr so that it would not use up space on my HD. Your help is appreciated as always.
First: if you examine the 'blank CD' with ISOBUSTER, what does it show? (1) an empty CD (2) a single Track called 'Track1' that cannot be opened (3) a layout apparently identical to the image: System files, folders and files placed at the same LBA than the original image Also, some extra information might help. Try posting here: - your burner name - the game name - the .CUE you're burning
Hi, Using isobuster it comes up as Session 1, Track 1 only. The burner is A Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-308B T100. The name of the game is Star Trek Starfleet Command III. The cue is Star Trek Starfleet Command III.FLT.sharereactor Thanks
The CD is a coaster. Definitely. Throw it in the garbage can. Isobuster should have seen the same structure of the original ISO. The problem does not lie in the burner, but in the image compiling. I suppose this is another Nero coaster. But you did not understand the question. Do you have a file with extension .CUE and another with extension .BIN or not? Or maybe you only have a file with extension .ISO? I noticed that Nero ofter burns coasters when you deal with some .ISO files. If you have a file with .CUE extension, open it with notepad and copy-and-paste it here. You could also try this experiment: ********************* BURNING EXPERIMENT a) rename the big image to TEST.BIN b) open Notepad and copy the following text: FILE "TEST.BIN" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 and save it in the same directory of test.BIN (call it, for instance, TEST.CUE) c) Open Nero. Choose BURN IMAGE and open the file TEST.CUE d) Burn on a CD-R or (better) a CD-RW. What happens? Does it work?
Here is that cue extension for you. Thanks. FILE "Star_Trek_Starfleet_Command_III.FLT.ShareReactor.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00
Tried that experiment, no luck gave me the following error. error occurred while loading the cue sheet file, Line 1
The error lies in the fact that the burner cannot find the path for the image. Did you put the .CUE file in the same directory of the .BIN file? But I have seen that the .CUE file is correct, I mean, I suppose the .BIN name is Star_Trek_Starfleet_Command_III.FLT.ShareReactor.bin so burning shouldn't be a problem. So let's do burning again step-by-step 1) open Alcohol 120% 2) Click on 'Image Burning Wizard' 3) push 'Browse' then load the old .CUE file. You should see something like this: Type : CDRWIN Image file Path : (directory you put the .BIN/.CUE into) Name : Star_Trek_Starfleet_Command_III.FLT.ShareReactor.CUE Star_Trek_Starfleet_Command_III.FLT.ShareReactor.BIN Size : XXX MB Session: 1 Track: 1 Session 01 : Track 01 : Mode 1, Length : nnnnnn (XXX MB), Address : 000000 4) Click 'Next' 5) On the next screen check that your recorder is shown, and do not change anything except 'Write Speed' (that I would suggest to keep at, say 12X) and 'Datatype' (that you put as 'Normal CD') 6) Click Start 7) During the burning process (It should take 8-10 minutes) do not do anyting with the PC What happens after burning?
Followed your instructions for A120% and now I have one file in Isobuster named Track01. My cue and bin-files are in the same directory. The cue is: FILE "rzrnhl23.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 The burner is a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM 332B (T410). Write speed was 4X, and Datatyp 'Normal CD'.
Now this is a true problem. Because 1) the .CUE seems OK (if it's a PC game - if it's a PSX then the .CUE is wrong) 2) the image name (rzrnhl23.bin) seems an image of NHL 2003, which is Safelock2 protected (isn't it?) But since the image seems a crack (by RZR), so it shouldn't be protected (but do not post here where you got it or you'll break forum rules), I would suggest to use one oth the two 'last chance' method listed below: 1) mount the image with Alcohol (right-click on the virtual drive and 'Mount') and run the installation program from there, OR 2) extract all files on your HD using CDmage or Isobuster and then burn them on a CD (this is just file burning, Nero's 'New CD-ROM', I mean) Before that, I would just check that .BIN integrity, maybe it's corrupted (use CDMage: open the .cue then Action-->Scan for Corruption). After installation, check any .NFO files, if any. More, use a CD-RW. Good luck...
Done what you said, no luck i'm afraid. When I inserted the cdr the drive just changed to cd drive with an icon of a blank disc. Again, your help and advise is appreciated.
Boys, Nope. I cannot understand why Alcohol burns coasters. This should not depend on the CD. Maybe Alcohol does not work with your burner? What about trying old CDRWin? This is my last advice: Extract all .BIN content on the HD with Isobuster then burn the files on a new CD-R with Nero (New--> CD-ROM ISO). You'll have an 'imperfect backup' of the CD. Since ST Starfleet Command III is CD checks protected, it needs the original CD to run, and you need to look for a patch to run it. Dont ask in these forums where to get it, please. ACOV, the same works for you. NHL 2003 is Safedisc v2 + CD checks protected, and I assume that RZR removed the Safedisc part. Burn the extracted .BIN content on a CD with, say, Nero, and if NHL asks for the original CD, grab a patch yourself, too.
Aldaco12, Many thanks for your help, cdrwin has done the business, it burned them ok. Didn't think it was the software, but Alcohol and Nero just don't go with my burner. Thanks again.
