    Hi All,

I have to produce a video that's been designed in native 1024x768 for a standalone DVD player.

I have tried some DVD Authouring software - but it drops it to 720 (PAL)

Can I use DIVX / XVID to encode so it plays in a standalone DVD player, but still retains the 1024x768 aspect ratio? It will be used on Plasma's that support 1024x768

    Cheers,

    Woosh

The max res for DVD is 720x576. As for XviD/DivX. Only if the player supports them and even then only if it supports HD resolutions since most DivX players support 720x576 max to. Not sure what resolution then. Some players may only support upto 720p for MPEG-4. HD 4:3 though?

I believe HD DVD/BluRay allow for authoring on standard DVD's to. So that could be an option. That way you could use AVC, VC1 or MPEG-2.
