Hello, What I'm trying to do is create a short & sweet "into screen" for my backed-up movies. Something personalized... I'd be willing to use a still picture if I have to, maybe 5 seconds long or so. I guess I have to create a VOB file somehow and insert it into the mix? I use X-Copy Platinum, but will try other software if need be (I was never a big fan of the "DVD BACKUP" note in X-Copy movies). I definately need some help. Thanks!
Bit out of my scope - but I'll tell you what I know: In Nero Vision Express you can made menus using both stills and video files - I've only ever used it once to make a DVD of our local school concert. One of the Ulead DVD editing software programs has this capability - not sure offhand which but there were two of us who worked on the school concert disc and the other person has this software so we played around with it a little. We were able to add music of our own choice too. Only trouble was that not everyone's standalones would play these automatically. Sorry can't be of more help - maybe you could do a search on authoring etc and you will find more information.
Ahh... interesting. I did something similar when converting my DV footage to DVD (from Disneyland) and inserted the "Disney DVD" clip into the start-up. Anyways, if you already have a video clip, use DVD-Lab since it allows excellent authoring control to do exactly what you're describing. If you don't have the clip and want to use a still pic, run it through a "picture slideshow" program to create the mpg and then drag it into DVD-Lab. I highly recommend Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 since it's one of the few that actually outputs hi-res video. Of course, make sure it's DVD-compliant specs.
Hmm. I have the patience for a slideshow (I've done some rediculously good work animating in MS Powerpoint of all things). I'll check that out. Hoping for something fairly user-friendly, if possible. It's a relatively small task, at least compared to the capabilities of some of these softwares...
