I am working with some raw video files. They were downloaded with
VLC player from a stream in wmv format and dumped as raw data to .wmv
files. They play beautifully without seeking ability of course, but
my problem is they are over an hour long and I want only a few minutes of each. I tried transcoding them as they downloaded with VLC but
the filesize increase is horrific. The streams do not seem to support seeking. Now my question , is there some way to direct cut the raw
.wmv files to just the bit I want, so they are a manageable size for
transcoding to another format so they could be edited if needed?
I just want to play the small sections of the video I need on my PC
(Win XP). I do not need to burn to DVD

goto sonys website and dl a trial version of Vegas 5.0 afeter installing it.
    1. open it and find the file you want to edit.
    2. drag it in vegas find the part you want.
    3. where it starts put the line that shows where you are in the file and push "s" this splits the video.
    4. find the end of what you want. push "s" again to split t
    5. click the vidoe before this and delete it ( dont worry nothing is lost)
    6. click the video after it and delete
    7. drag the video clip (now just the part you want) all the way to the left. the beginning.
    8. select tools
    9. select render to new track
    10. select the file type you want PLEASE READ BELOW

if this project has audio as well make sure when yo usplt the video the audio splits as well. you dont want 1 hour of audio and 15 seconds of video. MAKE SURE when you delete the video you dont want that you also delete the audio you dont want.

REMEBER there is an "UNDO" button.....
Bless the person who invented that

hope this helps....i have a walkthrough with screenshots if you would like...just ask
