I've a video clip that I'm going to convert from MPEG-2 to DivX. However this video (3 GB in size) has about 15 minutes of nonsense in the end of the file that I want to cut off. Is it possible to do this without re-encoding the whole file again, as Studio 8 seems to expect me to do? Premiere won't even open the file since it's mpeg-2.

Thanks for taking the time. :)

Yes of cource you can, Those editors aren"t meant for editing Mpeg files ,What you need is a real Mpeg editor, if you have Tmpgenc you can use it to Cut your File..Just run Tmpgenc then go to file to "Mpeg Tools" to "Merge & Cut" and from there it is easy to figure out..It will only take a Few minutes to out put the File with No encodeing.....Cheers

Either that, or you can just convert to DivX and then use Virtualdub to cut the last 15 minutes off the end of your DivX file.

It would prbly be easier to convert to divx first because sometimes there can be problems if you cut then encode.... i've not encountered any but ive heard of ppl having problems like that :)
