Hi, I have a DVD that is in .VOB and I am trying to cut out 5 minutes out of the middle of it. What I want to do is save the finished file with chapters. I have tried cutting parts out but each time I do it the chapters are removed. That was with VideoReDo. I've tried using Nero 8 but I am having trouble with that. Is there other software that ya'll recommend? I am going to burn this to a disk and provide it to family members. (It's an ultrasound) Since this will be burned back onto DVD does it need to be saved as VOB or would Mpeg-2 be fine?
The only way I know to do this without getting too complicated, is to use DVD Shrink. Assuming the DVD has been ripped to the HD and is now in a VIDEO_TS folder, run DVD Shrink. 1.'Open Files', locate the folder and load the movie. 2.Re-author 3.Drag 'Title 1' from right to left window. 4.Click the 'Start/End Frame' logo. Use the sliders to select the part from the beginning of the movie to where the cut starts - 'OK'. Repeat step 3 and 4, except select from where the cut ends to the end of the movie - 'OK'. Click 'Backup'. Either save to a new folder on the hard drive or if you have Imgburn installed, elect to burn the disk. This new movie now has two titles where there was one before. You may notice a pause as the DVD player moves from one to the other. The original chapter times are preserved (except that if the cuts were made in the middle of chapters - these chapters times are truncated. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm
