I picked up a 1600 today. Of course the remote was missing. Since the front panel is sparce on controls, I am presumming that the major choices are on the remote. Can anyone tell me where I can get one? or a universal that has the needed controls like a MENUE/ENTER keys at the minimum to acess the functions like record, speed, search, skip, ect? I cannot find their web site. That will be good too. I have to start somewhere.

The Cyberhome 1600 is the same as the Wal-Mart 05. The remotes are exactly the same except for the name.
The Cyberhone 1200 is also the same
You may find one some place like ebay
I still have a 05 with remote, and a new remote with the Cyberhome name but was holding on to it
If you don’t find one PM me

    PS
Make sure the 1600 is in good working order as such they are good and will play most anything
If not its a throw away
Cyberhome is no longer in business in the US
You might try Wal-Mart they may be able to preovide an 05 remote

LCHSG-- Thanks for the input. Unfortunately WALMART is absolutely useles . All they know is what they sell, if even that. I won*t waste my time. The unit in question does play, but without a remote I cannot acess the record functions, such as speed, pause, line in, tuner in, search, slo mo, ect. What I do like about it is that it is a disc vcr for want of a better word. The simplist unit of it*s type. It was free so it*s worth it to put a little money into it. Will you sell me yours? I have a number of universals but only one lists CYBERHOME by name, now I know why. That one however does not work with this unit, despite the listed codes and an exhausted code search of the entire library. Any leads will be welcome. The manual I downloaded, does not cover REWRITE discs in any detail. How the unit keeps track of how much of a given disc has been used, how all or part is eraced and and reused, like tape, ect, Your input is welcome.

I still use the 05 in an RV So far play only. I picked up a non working 1600 with manual that was new, for the remote. The case is in excellent condition but the DVD drive was defective.

You say you downloaded a manual. Most sites are no longer in operation and a number of users hav tried to get items as the manual, remote etc. with no luck
You might post the site you found operating

As to the Remote I don’t know abuut giving it up but let me think about it.

On ebay there is a remote listed as new for the 1600

    http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=Cyberhome+Recorder&category0=

Many Universal remotes claim the codes are available but are not and it they do operate some functions, the buttons don’t match the function.

I don’t believe the 1600 or 05 keep track of available space on a disk. You can see the space used for a recording and subtract from the disks space

In using an RW disk the only deleted space that is added to the space available on the disk is the very last recording. It will not overwrite a pervious recording or deleted space, unless you select as an option, overerite, and that can lead to loss of a wanted program.

It is not A GOOD IDEA to partial erase a disk. Only a complete erase.
I think you may find that a DVD is not as a VCR. I would suggest a Hard Drive [HDD] unit.
I have 5 liteon HDD,DVD units and 5 DVD only units and only record mainly to the HDD and sometimes to a +RW disk BUT only the one recording and when finished, do a complete erase of the disk.

That’s me and many have the disk only units and it works for them.

    Edit
Make sure that any remote is for the MU or MU1
The ZU is different in operation and is a bummer
