Ok, so today was suppose to be a special day for me since I was buying my first DVD player. I have all types of brand new DVD's from Columbia House and couldn't wait to watch them. So I buy this cheap piece of crap, CyberHome CH-DVD 300 ,and popped in Amityville Horror into it. First hour or so is good... then all of a sudden it freezes?!?!?!?! hmmm... So i turn it on and off, unplug it, etc etc... NO LUCK. So I thought it was the DVD and was about to email Columbia House cursing them out for selling me used DVD's or defective shit. So I pop in another DVD, Mean Girls. Same crap, freezes about half way into the movie. Has anyone else had a similiar experience with a BRAND NEW CyberHome? I mean, come on, it is less than 4 hours old. I paid $40 for it at Best Buy. I am returning this garbage tomorrow and going to Brandsmart!! I will spend an extra $20-$30 for a quality player that will actually play an entire movie!!!!!

Freezing around the half way mark usually means it can't handle the layer change. Slight pause on most players. Wise to return.

Ummm I have a CyberHome CH DVD 300 and Ive never had any problems with it playing dvs back except DVD+R DL (sligh pauses and/or frame dropouts @ layer breaks)

Sounds like you either got a defective unit or an older version. BestBuy has a habit of keeping aging hardware around and selling it as new. Try getting a firmware update from Cyberhome or trade it in for a newer model. (production date is usually on the bottom of the box or elsewhere on the box)

as for Dual layer dvds causing slight pauses in dvd players, the damned dvd says it might do that on the BOX in the lower right corner on the front on some DL DVDs and almost always its printed below the credits on the back cover. Even high end overpriced DVDs can have issues with DL discs so its just not a the Cyberhome's fault.
