Ok, heres somehthing I ran into.
I recently went to Walmart and bought a ILO dvdr05/zu, i got it home put in a dvd+r to record and it would not format, it kept saying unreconized media. I tried other brand dvd+r and samething. Ok so I tried a dvd-r and it worked! I tried to play divx and xvid, no luck....VCD and SVCD's worked. So i was dissapointed with what I found. so first thing this morning I took that sucker back and looked for the MU,but could only find the MU1, I found an 04 but it was a display and they would not sell it. So I found another player CyberHome 1200MU, I figured ok,cheaper may not play any better, but I tried anyway. Sure enough it played every format I put in it. SVCD,VCD,XVID,DIVX,DVD-R and +R.. I was pretty impressed. So I did the Region Hack on it, worked fine.. Then the true test was to "backup" some original copy movie through VCR and DVD though my other DVD play and VCD. I tired several differant movies I currently rented from Blockbuster, new releases....
IT RECORDED EVERYTHING I PUT IT...NO MACROVISION!! I was truely impressed.I recommend this play to anyone wanting to get something worth the buck...wasnt but 79.94....THE ILO was 99.94... I was told that and read that the CyberHome 1200MU would copy protected media?? but mine did several times over. Also when I got my apex AD1110, I was told it wouldnt play Xvid or AVI or VCDs...HA it plays every format also.... love these cheap ass players!!!

    Interesting

I had a 05MU and 05MU1.[made by Cyberhome] No real difference in recording or operation. Neither would copy any CP media.
The 05MU and 05MU1 are the same as a Cyberhome 1600
The Cyberhome 1200 is the same as the 05MU,MU1 or Cyberhome 1600 without an RV input on the fromt. The electronics are there just no cable or connector.
None of these units could be hacked or would record any CP media.

I have two ilo RHD04 [made be LiteOn] units that do very well
One thing. The CyberHome units will, just about, play anything and will record very well but no CP including MV.

    PS
I have a Cyberhome 1200 that replaced the 05MU1 it was $30 cheaper and I don't use the DV input.

that is interesting.. I knew they were the same, but the only thing I have done is enabled Multiregion. Hmmm... I dont know why mine copies everything. I even tried coping VHS tapes and every original worked, I copied 5 differant new release blockbuster dvd's, all copied perfectly and played perfectly.. the only thing I did find is the copies I make wont play in my other APEX 1110W dvd player, but they do in the CyberHome???? Anyone know why that is???

What player are you using to feed the 1200
I have an old Apex 3201 that has been hacked [Very simple conpared to others] it does a very good job on MV with the 1200 [or any other] but it does not work on CSS, CPRM or other CP.
Its the reason I've hung om to the 3201. It does work very well.
    The 04's will record anything.

    PS
The Apex is very good the 3201 will play a +R/RW disk I don't know if other older units will play them. I've run across some units that wont

Im using an Apex 1110W to play the movies. It hasnt been hacked or anything. I love that thing. It plays just about everything I burn, except the stuff I burn from the CyberHome.Wierd.. I have finalized the disc, Ive tried other media,dvd-r and +r and it just says no disc on the apex...
