Anyone know why I would get a "cycle redundancy check" when I try to move data from my burned data DVD-RW disc back to my hd? I am moving this by just having the open "my disc" opened and just draggin and droppin onto desktop. Some movies I have on there will go back to the HD and others won't. Any solution

    Hi there,

cycle redundancy check (stands for CRC Error)

    http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/cyclic-redundancy.html

It means it tried to copy the data several times and still failed.

I have a feeling you won't be able to copy some of that data back to your hard drive.

There are software like "Bad Copy" I think it's called, might help you with the bad portion of the disk.

I have a few CD-RW and DVD-RW at work which I dont trust anymore.

Most of the stuff burned on them get's corrupted.

They are good for the garbage.

    Good Luck !

It could be dirty or scratched if has a dent in it forget it but clean it I use a disc cleaner called Disc Doctor it works . If the disc is to large to shrink to a 4.7 you might get this error . you can also use toothpaste to remove some scratches . Don't worry there is a thick clear plastic that covers the foil ( were the data is ) Rub from the inside out don't rub in circles!
