Dont know if I am in the right place to be asking this or not but here goes. While trying to backup several movies I have come across an eror the cycle redundency error. How do I bypass it or get around it? I am using DVD Shrink to do my backups, is there another program that will di it for me or will DVD Shrink do the job?

    Thanks,
    Nate

    Hey,

    cycle redundency error

Is your disk dirty or scratched ?

Some people even said it can be a bad original, wrongly pressed.

The DVD I am using is a brand new one just took it out of the packaging adn tried to copy it and the message cane up. Shrink will go through the analizing process but when it starts to backup it may do it immediatly or it may take a few min. I.e. the movie stealth or FF Tokoyo Drift. The error message I get is stated like this: Encryption error unable to read drive E: Cycle redundancy error. I am using Memorex Dvd+R and a new original dvd. Any more directions that I can go?

    Thanks,
    Nate

    Hey,

Are you using DVDFabDecrypter, and/or have AnyDVD running the background ?

[bold]DVDShrink on it's own[/bold] probably cannot decrypt new protections maybe found on this DVD.

Maybe is this is the issue !

With some of the newer DVDs, CRC is a result of newer copy protections that DVDShrink cannot deal with. You must use an updated decrypter prior to trying to rip.

That error is a generic error. It basically means that Shrink is unable to read the disc. It can be caused by scratches, dirty disc etc. It may also be that your drive is getting weak and not reading well.
