Up to date firmware? This is a brand new burner. What does firmware mean and how do I find out if my burner is up to date? This is the "only" disc I have ever had a problem with. I had this error "once" before with another disk, downloaded AnyDvd and it fixed the problem. Not so with this disk.
@essay55 First, my apologies, I overlooked your statement that you tried a different disc. Firmware is the driver that runs your burner. If you have DVDdecrypter it will display your drive model and the firmware version. I think that CloneDVD does it as well. Post the model and we can check, or you can check the version by using the last link in my signature. It's real simple to do. If there is an upgrade, download it to your desktop. Close all programs and double click on the downloaded file. Follow the instructions, it's pretty intuitive. If you can't find an update your version is probably okay. You can post the model and version though and I will be glad to try to help you. Cheers.
Finally in despair I tried copying the "Original Theatrical Version " of Lords of Dogtown. The disk I have been trying to copy was the "Unrated" version of the movie. The "Original" version copied just fine. I have no idea why the "Unrated" version didn't comply. Anyone out there having the same problem (crc error) with the "Unrated" version of this movie?
@essay55. Had no problem copying the Unrated version of LOD. I used AnyDVD/Shrink/Nero. Sounds like you may have a bad pressing.. CRC errors= bad checksum, will play in standalone but computers are picky...
9mmruger1, Thanks for the valuable suggestion. How do I post the model and version. When I went to your link and it aksed me to input search string, I was lost. Please advise..
@essay55 If you open DVDdecrypter you should see your burner spec's at the top right of the decrypter window - see below You can see my burners specs listed in this image. See what yours is and copy and paste it and I will try to help. I would imput the "GSA-4163B" in the search string text box. (edited)
@essay55, You can also use DVDDecrypter to search for new firmware. Go to Tools -> Drive -> Check for firmware updates.
I really appreciate the support I'm getting here. Problem is I don't have DVDDecrypter. I can't get it to download for some reason. I have DVDFabDecrypter. Any suggestions on finding out the firmware for this software?
I have had the crc error plenty of times ( dvd shrink ) and have put it down mainly to bad quality dvd disc's but can be other factors too. I have also had 1 Movie that could not be copy because dvd shrink could not remove the copyright protection. I use a program called Magic iso Maker to make an iso file of the copyrighted movie then burn the iso to disc this has over come the copying problem. With the movie disc's that have the crc error I used Magic iso Maker to make a iso file then reburnt the iso file. In most cases this has worked just fine. It can take quite some time to make an iso of a bad disc. I now buy good quality dvd discs and have not had the crc error in about 90 of them.
Don't know where you are trying to get Decrypter but there shouldn't be any problem downloading it from this site: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm Try and let us know...
You can get it here too: http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/ Your current burn program should tell you the burner information as well. You can also go into device manager and find your burner model.
Isn't this software banned? From what I understand there will no longer be any updates available on this product. Please advise......
There are no more updates for dvd shrink but MagicISO maker is still available. also if you if you hunt around the net you can still get programs that will copy your dvd movie collection.
@ essay55, You have been all over this forum with problems copying disks and programs that don’t work….. You think maybe it could be your computer needs a little upgrading or replacing?? Not trying to be a smart a**, just a thought LOL…………
Respectively 2oldgeek/aabbccdd, You are right. I have been all over this forum trying to find a solution for (1), I repeat (1) disk that I had problems copying. Despite all my pleas for help, my problem remained unsolved. As far programs, I only reported that DVDDecrypter shuts my system down. FYI: My system is 1.5years old. I havent't had a problem except for the one to date. I don't think it's the the computer. But thank-you for your valuable advice.
or maybe upgrading a few things could help or reformatting your system ,sorry man your having this much trouble but theres only so much everyone can figure out with someones system on the web ,iam sure you will get it worked out
aabbccdd, You're are absolutely correct. There is only so much that I can expect from this forum in regards to solving the problems I have. The advice I have recieved from this forum has been invaluable and I sincerely appreciate it. I solved the "Lords of Dogtown" problem! DVDDecrytper is still giving me problems by shutting my system down when I try to run it. Serious system error is the report I get. I have DVDFabdecrypter and I will stick w/that.
