ok I have a plextor and a lite-on external burner. Everytime I try to burn a dvd it says cyclic redundancy error on every disc i try. I tried both burners on my friend's computer and both worked great and then I tried to burn the same cd using the same blank discs with my computer. I have also tried cleaning all discs before putting them in the drive Any suggestions on why they won't work on my computer?

    thanks everyone

    Hi there,

Please provide us with a little mode details.

Are those burners USB2, connected to a USB2 motherboard ?

What brand of drives, model, firmware level are they ?
What media was used, what's the Media ID ?

What speed did you try to burn those ?

What software did you use ?

If you used NERO or VSO CopyToDVD, provide us with a full LOG, there's lots of usefull information in there.

When reading, ripping, if you get cyclic redundancy error, it usually means a dirty disk, scratched or just a bad pressed media. (A bad original).

You get cyclic redundancy error on burning ?

I finally figured this out. Thank you everyone for all your help. Apparently I had some bad sectors in my hard drive. So I did an error check under the properties and that repaired all the bad sectors, now I'm a burning mad man. Thanks again!!
