Hi all, I burned a dvd file onto a disc. What i mean by that is, I didn't convert to dvd format. I just burned a dvd with the movie\video files. I wanted to take the files off my harddrive. Upon playback using vlc media player some of the episodes were freezing. I get what is called a "Cyclic Redundancy Error" Is there a program that fixes this type of error or is the files on this disc now perm. damaged? All suggestions, as always are welcome
more than likely you have bad dvd media. For dvd recording I only recommend TY,verbatims, or sony. You can check if you DVD is the problem by doing a test disk on NERO of your dvd. For flawless playback you need to have a score of at least 90 percent. What brand blank DVD are you using and what was the test score that you got? Many people overlook DVD media as the problem, but usually that is the most important cause of bad playback. Incidently all burning software will say "burn completely successfully", but you always need to do an occasional test disk on your burned media just to make sure. I have burned DVD video files, as data before, when I just drag and drop the video_ts and audio_ts folders into nero and just hit burn, when I use quality media, they always work perfectly. The only program that might be able to recover those files off of a damaged or substandard dvd is "isobuster", I used it to recover some dvd's off of some memorex dvd's(worst brand) that where freezing during playback. Of the 6 dvd's that I tried to repair, I was able to recover 4. It does work, but sometimes it does take a while to work it's magic.
