my d2pro9 worked fine on my dms wii but a couple weeks ago my wii broke so i had to send it back, when i got my wii back it was the same one (but now the disc spin) and when i put my modchip back on it just has a red light and doesnt read any disc...when i take it off the wii works fine but i want to play my backups...what can i do and what does the red light mean?

    thanks

If you sent it to Nintendo then more then likely you got a D2C/D2C2/D2E drive back. Check the drive chip and see what version it says it is. Just because you got the same Wii back doesn't mean the drive is the same so check.

If it is a D2C then install the D2Pro 9 wire install for D2C. If it is a D2C2 and you have the old D2Pro modchip then you will need to buy the D2Pro Rev2 for D2C2 drive.

Keep in mind if it says D2C it can still be D2C2 since they do not label it D2C2 it will only be labeled D2C.

If it is a D2E drive then you will need to wait till the D2E Modchip form D2Pro hits distributors to buy.

Doesn't the D2C2 have different numbering on the drive chip or something like that ?

Some say if the chipset only says D2C with no serial on the chipset that it is a D2C2 but I have heard others say they have a D2C chipset with no serial and can be modded with first gen D2Pro9. So it isn't 100% reliable.

You can tell if it's D2C2 by looking at the back of the drive. On the Spindle if there is a triangular metal piece with the number 2 on it then it is a D2C2 drive.

I saw that thread as well but again some users claim they had that same piece of metal and the D2Pro first gen worked as well.

Not that I question you NDarkness since you modded my Wii.

With D2Pro and D2C chipsets you have 4 extra wires that need to be added. They are F E D and C (This includes the 5 wires that you previously had for the DMS drive). A total of 9 wires is needed for D2C.

If you have a wire install then connect wires to the F E D and C points showen HERE on the Drive to the D2Pro.

    If you have a Wii-Clip then solder F E D and C on the WiiClip/D2Pro. HERE is a guide to the Wii-Clip 9 wire D2C instillation.

Keep in mind if the drive is D2C2 and you have D2Pro first gen Modchip it will not work. You will need to get the D2Pro Rev2 Modchip.

Will the D2Pro9 rev 2 work with a DMS drive or do I need to get the older D2Pro chip.

    You could buy a D2Pro Rev2 presoldered onto a Wii-Clip.

But if the D2Pro you have now is compatible with the drive then it would be cheaper to just add the extra solder to the Wii-Clip/D2Pro.

Below is an image of where the extra solder needs to be applied (4 extra letters and 1 CLK Jumper needs solder)...

Does that mean that for dms you don't need the clk shorted ?
because im having trouble with my d2pro (only does the flash when i press down on the modchip)

Hi, i just bot a d2pro v3 d2e support, the drive doesnt power up after i installed it. can someone hlep me. I have a d2c chip.

i used a wii clip v4c......its a 9 wire, when i solder the chip to the clip...one of the solder points came off...."p", it looks like that point doenst connect to anthing so I dont think thats the problem.

The chip does light up when i turn on the wii.
I checked and tested all 9 solder points and it was all fine.

Do you have a wii clip? does it work when u take off the modchip?
Mine is like yours red like and dead drive, but works when i removed the mod. I am pretty sure my mod has the latest 2.1 firmware too.

Nope i soldered mine in i even used bigger guage wires for power and grnd. i got pissed off with it and yanked it out it boots fine but it will only read wii play and wii sports. i put zelda in to do the twilight hack and it wont even spin up so i'm gunna go and return it for a new one and try to put the chip in that after i do the hack.

i have a update on my situation:

i got a presoldered d2pro9 that says it is suppose to work with dmc and the d2c2 but when i connect it i get a steady red light (the same thing that happens when i use my other wii clip for the dms)

so what are my options now?
