    it is hard for anybody to be able to tell you anything about that movie, because it has not been released yet.

    you can try to use AnyDVD, but the updates to break the copyright may not be out until a few days before it is released here in the US. try RipIT4Me. may work, but the same thing holds true. you may have to wait until the updates are released here before you can break the copyright.

    @kosbour - cool.
    if DVD Shrink won't do it just use (free) DVDFab Decrypter, that'll rip thru anything out there, and is updated often - http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

    ..then just use DVD Shrink as normal. that's how i do all my movies, there of course a few different ways but i'm just recommending my tried and tested method...

    I agree with creaky, DVDFab Decrypter should rip right through it. If you should run into a problem with this title, log on to cdfreaks.com and post in the forum of DVDFab/DVD Region+CSS Free, this is where Fengtao, the author of DVDFab, keeps a close watch on and posts back on all problem titles.

    I agree with creaky. Yep, you've a good taste there buddy, especially DVDFAB Decrypter. It's one of the best free ripper at the moment in my opinion. In addition, it's fast, simple and free, nothing to lose.

    To make a long story short.

    ** insert your dvd/movie (any movie) into dvd burner
    ** open up DVDFAB Decrypter
    ** set your Target <---- make it to your HD
    ** click START, wait until it's done (roughly 15 minutes to rip) and the rest is history.

    Just succeeded in doing it myself. Here's how:

    DVD Shrink (v 3.2.0.15) with DVD Region+CSS Free (v 5.9.8.3) running in the background just kept throwing a wobbler.

    Get hold of the latest version of SlySoft's AnyDVD (v 6.0.8.2) and rip the DVD to your hard drive. Then use DVD Shrink to crunch down the copy on your hard drive.

    Another Sony Pictures dvd ripped!! Similar to RV need Ripit4me & FixVTS, then Shrink & burn. DvdFabDecrypter doesn't like it on it's own - appears to copy it but screws up the chapters even after processing with VobBlanker

    I have not had the chance to purchase "The DaVinci Code" But I did aquire "Little Man" & "Cars" which have Arccos "PuppetLock" and the other Macrovision "RipGuard". These both backed up to disc using AnyDVD 6.0.8.2 and NERO 7 Recode2. Though I have the FreeWare" and no doubt they work with a few extra steps. I do choose the purchased software Like AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 from SlySoft. Though at this time what they do to allow DVD back-ups is seen as illegal I believe that a company like SlySoft above all supports the non-supported right of the DVD consumer to make simple back-ups of a purchased DVD. The FreeWare I feel is always in danger of being bought up by the movie production houses or by authoring companies like Macrovision. The makers of RipIt4Me, DVDFab, in my opinion are just waiting on the auction block to be purchased or sold, just like DVD Decrypter. AnyDVD and SlySoft has legs, if sold would no doubt go to the highest bidder and before doing so would no doubt have to think about the years of support they have gotten from paying customer's who have allowed them to become the makers of the best decrypting software available. They also can make the legal argument that backing up movies for personal view is not illegal because they have sold and continue to sell their product in support people like us, or like people like me who just like to make a simple back up copy of the DVD movie I purchased.:p

    It seems to me that people are getting their knickers in a twist over this movie, simply because it's another Sony.

    I made a post a couple of weeks ago regarding When a stranger calls and the problems I seemed to be having. Even had problems with vobblanker and finished up using fixvts. And reading further posts about other problems I think that DVDFabdecrypter was at fault. I uninstalled the latest version and went back to v2.9.8.3 and I made a successful back-up of the Da Vinci Code this morning with just that and DVDShrink.

    To quote alkohol //"I agree with creaky. Yep, you've a good taste there buddy, especially DVDFAB Decrypter. It's one of the best free ripper at the moment in my opinion. In addition, it's fast, simple and free, nothing to lose"//
