Damage to the laser head ?

I'm just wondering if it is possible to cause damage to the laser head by playing self-burned disc instead of original one even if we use high-quality discs. Anyway, it is just a guess.

 

i think my wii reads better using dvdr, its more quiet compare to original. Tested on One Piece and Red Steel

 

I kinda feel the same way, just checking how everyone else feels.
