I have some VCD footage (5 mins) that I have extracted as mpeg (with ISOBuster). The mpeg size is approx 40MB in size, and I want to put this footage on my website for users to dowload. I tried using REAL Producer, but even the .rm file is about 20MB. Is this right? Or can I get the filesize even smaller? It doesn't have to be a streaming file, I just want to ensure that the filesize is as small as it can be without loosing too much quality. The question is... what software & what file format?
Have a look at Windows Media Encoder. Get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx WMV can get 5 minutes of video WELL under 10mb. It all depends on which bitrate setting you use.
