I am totally new to this kind of stuff so I need some knowledgeable input. I want to burn my VHS and 8mm home movies to DVD. I wanted to know if I can do it with Dazzle Video Creator 200, I am looking to buy it if it will work. Can anyone tell me if it is appropriate for what I am trying to do? Any help is greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance for any responces.

Yes it will Do what you want beut there are better capture devices that are Cheaper, also it is Usually better to get a PCI Card as Opposed to a USB device because of bandwidth issues but Hardware encoders Like the DVC200 it isn"t as Big of an issue....

You could also get something like a "Hauppaggue WinTV PVR 150/250" or a "Ati Theatre 550" all of Which are Hardware Mpeg-2 encoders that are Better quality capture devices and cheaper than the DVC200...
With the "ATI Theatre 550" it has the added Advantage of useing a 12bit decoder for better quality and also uses Hardware Dolby AC3 encodeing for better audio quality and has a 16mb Frame Buffer so you don"t drop Frames and it has an audio lock feature so you don"t have sync problems...All of these Devices can capture Video from a Cable Hookup as they have a Built in TV Tuner and can also capture Video from any video source Like a Camcorder or a VCR or Satalite reciever ect....

    Cheers

    Minion,
Thank you very much for your response. I went ahead and purchased the DVC 200 on ebay. I think I got a good deal for $51. Am I still going to need to purchase anything else in order to do my movies over to DVD? Thanks again for your help.

Well you Probably won"t need anything else(Besides maybe some Software) unless you are trying to capture Retail VHS Tapes in which case you would need a Video Stabilizer of Some sort to remove the Macrovision Copy protection from the Tapes....

The Hardware will probably Come with either "Pinnacle Studio 9" or with "Dazzle MovieStar v5.0/Dazzle DVD Creator" which will work with the device....

It will at least come with the Drivers and with Capture software and one you have Captured the Mpeg-2 files to your Hard Drive you would Simply need to author them to DVD useing a DVD authoring program like Tmpgenc DVD Author or DVDLab.....

    Cheers
