    Greetings all!

I am in a bit of a pickle............

I purchased a dbox2 recently, and was busy last night mounting points for recording, and experimenting with streaming n stuff.

Basically, during a process of trial and error, the box got its knickers in a twist and was telling me that the recording would be cancelled (mnt was invalid or something). However, it would not stop telling me this repeatedly, no matter what I did, so I was forced to turn off at the mains.

Now, heres where it gets infuriating....

    1. The box is deffo a 2, not a 1, but it's in the plastic shell of a 1!
    2. The LCD had already been removed as it was not working
    3. Behind the panel there are 3 buttons in a horizontal row, but no indication what they do. (just the bare metal shell in there!)

I have googled to death for images/manuals, but simply can't find what these are, so at the very least, if someone could tell me what these are, that would help. I don't want to start experimenting in case it isn't broken but I somehow wipe the image by holding down combinations.

So right now, when I switch on, nothing happens, but, I do get green flashes on the front of the box in response to any button press from the remote, and the ethernet port is kicking out a signal too, so it's not completely dead. I have tried pinging repeatedly whilst diagnosing (in case it could start network services, but no joy)

Having done as much googling as I can, I have come up with the following possibilites :-

    1. Internal fuse blown - Not very electronics minded, so would guess if this was the case it would be PROPER dead??
    2. It needs some sort of hardware reboot - Can only find minimal patchy info that not 100% even applies to a dbox2. Would try but don't want to make things worse!
    3. It's proper poorly - but I havn't tinkered inside

OK, as the screen has been removed, is there ANY way of firing this thing back up???

If it has got its knickers in a twist, is their a default IP that I could try??

Is it worth using a serial cable? If I can connect with serial cable, will I be able to setup the basic stuff that you would normally do with the 3 front button?

My gut feeling is the box isn't totally mashed as like I say my router still has an active port light.

You could try reflashing it using IFA.

Thanks SG8, I reckoned that was the only avenue left.
Quick question, I have tons of pc cables except..... a 9 pin serial.Bummer.

If I acquire one, can you just use the standard wire config? ie will I need to change the way the wires connect at each end?

Anyway, I have found out what IFA is and have downloaded already. I will acquire the latest UK neutrino image and see how it goes.

I just love doing things with zero knowledge AND 1 and a half hands tied behind my back.
