Hello, I have my system set up for cardsharing but I am running into problems with my IP address changing hence my peers from the outside losing access to my server. I have set up my dyndns.org account and everything works fine while the IP address is updated but when the IP address changes dyndns.org wont update my external IP therefore my peers lose connection to my server. I have installed the dyndns updater client on my PC but that doesnt seem to work. I restart my router which forces an IP change from my internet service provider but the updater running on my PC will not update the external IP address of the router. I need to do it manually continuosly. My eircom router (the latest router they supply to their customers) also has a built in feature to support dynamic DNS updating and I have tried this also (after I uninstalled the dyndns.org update client because I heard the two cannot run concurrently). I have tried this also but there are quite a few setting to input and I think I have done it correctly but again, the IP will not update automatically and my peers lose connection again. I am really tired of having to go into my dyndns.org account and update the IP every few hours manually. Can someone please help??
what box and image do you have ,nabilo images for dreambox have the inadyn plugin pre installed i use it and it works fine .on other images you may have to install it via the remote or manually install it.
Hi, I have a dm800hd with gemini 4.7 image installed. I have enabled the inadyn plug-in also via the Blue panel on the DM800hd (i have filled in my user name and password etc etc into the script via the FTP tool in var/script using DCC) but still no luck. So thats three things I have tried, the dyndns.org updater client, the built in dynamic dns upadter tool built into the eircom router and also the inadyn but the IP continues to change and not get updated automatically. I am with vobaphone broadband but I continue to use the eircom zyxel router because its performance is much better than the rubbish vobaphone router. Vobaphone charge extra for a static ip and that kind of defeats the perpose of trying to keep costs down by card sharing. Would you guys have examples of your inadyn plug-in script so that I can compare to see if it entered correctly. Thak=nks for your input.
if you want to have a proper share a static ip is not an option, it is an essential. the cost of obtaining one is minimal compared to other costs.
