de-activate motorola buttons?

    i have 2 motorola phones a v551 and a v400 both of them piss me off cuz wen they r in my pocket the side buttons get pushed and it changes the ring style around! is it possible to deavtivate these buttons? if its not i am seriously considering taking apart my phone and cutting the copper wires to that switch on the pcb!
