Hey guys, i was wondering what to do because i have a problem. Just recently, the stock dvd burner in my hp pavilion d4100e broke down, and we ordered a sony optiarc dvd burner. The thing came, and now it was time for the dirty work. I opened the case, unscrewed all of the screws holding the dvd burner to the case, and unplugged the power supply and ide cable. The thing is, when i push it out, it wont go out fully, and instead gets stuck at half-way. So maybe im thinking theres another screw on the other side of the case? That will be a problem, because the case is contructed is such a way that only the right side will open, and the left side is RIVETED, meaning the screws are circular and cannot be screwed off. Am i screwed? (pun intended)

There has to be a way to get the old drive out and the new drive in...keep tinkering around with it and I'm sure you will get it sorted. Maybe go to a local PC shop and see if they have a suggestion or trick.

Thanks for the reply, but i think i have an idea. Looking at my pc, i see that there are TWO more drive bays under my previous 2, so i was thinking maybe i could jus insert the new drive there, put in all the screw from the old drive, and insert all the cables from the old drive.. and ill be set? The thing is, theres a covering the on front of the case, so i wont be able to access the drive unless i somehow get it off. Any ideas or thoughts?

Okay, after some hard work i finally managed to install the nwe Optiarc dvd burner. Its set to "cable select" or whatever its called, and the IDE cable thats connected to it is MASTER, while my second dvd drive is slave, like it was before.

Okay, i just tried burning ZODIAC. CopyToDVD burned it flawless to a SONY DVD-R dvd, however neither my 2nd drive NOR even my TOSHIBA DVD PLAYER thats connected to my TV.

Either i used a bad ISO of ZODIAC, or the SONY DVD-R dvds are absolutely crap... I wont be buying Sony DVDs from now on.

Try setting your jumpers to "master" for the master drive and "slave" for the slave drive, don't set it up for CS....see if it brings you joy.

I would recommend Verbatim for blank media...some of the Sony are good if you luck out.
