    Hi,

I own a Philips DVD-RW Drive and I am getting no reaction from it (Other than power light on startup). Windows will reconise the drive in My Computer and the Divice Manager and says the drive is fine. I have done nothing to it (Have had it for 15 Months). I have done key things like update the ASPI Driver and check the IDE Drivers.

    Can anyone suggest anything, Dave

I tried to look this drive up for the latest firmware version for the drive. What firmware version do you have?

I wonder if this drive is the same as the BenQ 1620?

Thanks for that. I have took the chance and updated the firmware anaway to version P3.6. The update was successful however it has still not changed things.

What is it not doing? Will it play a DVD, or just not burn, or not do anything?

What programs are you using to play, rip, and burn? Do you get any log files?

It seems strange that it would recognize a firmware update and accept it if the drive is not working. Have you uninstalled the drive and then rebooted the system and let windows recognize it?

This one is strange to say the least.

    Your right, it is strange.

Its almost as if the motor that opens and closes the draw is broke. The power light will come on when you turn on the computer and thats it then (I only got a reaction when I flashed it). Windows says the drive is OK (from device manager) and you can see it in my computer.

I use Nero 6 for everything. Not sure on the log files???

No I havent tried that. Ill give it a shot.
