I’ve got my mate a Starview 4 at xmas, it was working fine for months then just the other day it died… no lights coming on at all. The box is from a good dealer, defo not a clone, no silver heat sink. I’ve seen other posts but they appear to be clone related.

Can anyone please suggest how I can bring this box back from the dead?

    Thanks!

A Max 232 may work but when you say it is dead what do you mean. Is there any power indications on it? BTW if you got it from a decent supplier it should still be covered under warranty ;)

    no power indications Scouser,

I had the v1.07 software on it so I'm not sure if the warranty is valid, suppose the dealer wouldn't know.

I'll look up how to do this Max232 business.. never done it before.

Is this a common problem with the Starview 4?

Just return it, its under warranty, if the box is physically broke, contact your supplier and arrange the return, dont start messing with a box thats covered by warranty as you may totally invalidate the warranty by messing with it.
