Did you buy the Jtag kit or make it yourself? Is it a genuine or clone box?

hi scouser sorry i take so long to answer but i only have limited access to this computer, and yes i did make the jtag cable myself and yes it ithink th box is a clone, although when i checked my box aginst the pictures given by dooby2oon the power supply is a clone but the motherboard looks like the original and has the samsung chip, i followed the instructions given by dooby to reflash the dead starview.

I would recommend buying a proper jtag kit they are around £15 and come with all you need, I can give you a link if required. But I would check the C11 capacitor on the PSU board first and see if it is bulging/domed or blown.

    hi scouser back again,
i used kf22s image using s-y m-x 2 and yes it did erase but it came up with a message saying it could not reload rom or something similar, i then tried it again and got the same message so i disconnected the cable from the computer and switched the box off and on again thats when nothing happened, ive repeated the prosses several times but all i get now is a message failed dcu restart or reset cpu box ive checked all of the cables and everything seems to be in order ps it also wrote the file but i think that is where i went wrong i think i wrote the wrong file to it

Try Jkeys, make sure your BIOS settings are EPP, (Bi-directional), with an IRQ of 378, you can also set this in Jkeys preferences. Use this image http://www.mediafire.com/?ubxtj4ewxiz for Jtag and the use the Cryptstar257 in Eamos for flash if successful. You will also find Jkeys in Eamos.

    Any problems just shout.

hi scouser ive checked all of my connections and the all appear to be sound, i cant use skym-x because it keeps saying failed dcu,and when i try to use stb updater v4.03 using the image cryptstar v1(1)4 core257 all i get is failed update retry or cancel, i think this one is for the bin.

Honestly it does sound like a wiring problem with the Jtag. BTW you need Gtromloader version 4 not version 4.03, (that is for later firmware revisions).
