http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.293841 Does this kit seem ok? Are any of the pieces suspect? I guess I could get a lesser power supply and case and save $60 or so correct? is it possible to get this up and running without a gpu? I want to get this running and save up for the gpu. Do I need a sound card to get sound or is something on the motherboard that will give me sound?
# Raidmax RX-730SS:$69.98 - Junk PSU. # Western Digital WD15EADS:$89.99 - Good drives for storage, not for running your OS on. I would think you could pull together a custom build for a bit more that will be much better. The mobo will provide sound, but not video. Whats your max budget and what are you planning to do on it? Gaming? Video editing? etc?
All you need is a cheap radeon 4350 video card (40.00) it's a good beginner video card, makes my 19 widescreen LCD look amazing and plays every game I've thrown at it. Highly recommend this card for a motherboard that doesn't have a built-in GPU. The I5 cpu is 95 watts (same as my phenom 9750), I'm running my phenom quad with a radeon 4670 and 4 hard drives on a 400 watt "works" power supply. I've had raidmax power supplys before and never had problems with them, I especially like the large cooling fans on those power supplys. On such a large hard drive, the first thing to do is partitioned it. Make a small OS partiton and a larger data partition.
