decreasing nero burn speed

    I've looked all over the internet and searched forums and I can't seem to find how to decrease the burn speeds within nero.

    I have a 16x sony burner and when I burn mp3 cds they won't play in my car stereo.

    Although if someone else burns a cd for me (at 4x) they will play. So its not my stacker.

    So I need to decrease by burn speed for nero to below 4. ie 2x or 1x. How do I do this?

    If I can't do this what burning program can I get so I can decrease the burn speed.

    Please HELP ME its been an ongoing problem for months I've tried to rectify.

    Some programs don't give you the option to burn at various speeds. Some burners don't give you the option to burn at various speeds.
    Try EAC (Exact Audio Copy), a highly recommended program geared for backing up music. If in the write process you can burn at 4x. You "might" be able to burn music at 4x using CloneCD( not recommended for burning music but will get the job done).

    Be sure to download Lame MP3 encoder and copy& paste the files to: C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy (default).

    Read image (of music cd) with sub-q audio^
    If EAC fails to burn at 4x, I recommend you still use the EAC extraction process using Lame MP3 encoder. if you just wan't to extract waves, then burn back to a cd-r, then it's just finding burnin' software that will allow you to write at 4x. You can also try BurnAtOnce just to burn after the audio has been extracted.

    Thanks heaps for all the detailed information. I don't think I made it clear that when I burn at 4x it won't play in my car. So even if I try another program at 4x I doubt it will work. I need to set nero to burn at a lower speed then the set 4x, 8x and 16x speeds. Or I need a program that I can specify the burn speed, ie 1x or 2x.

    You CAN'T set Nero to a certain burning speed, that's why I posted other programs for you try.

    thats fucked. thanks heaps ill give them a try. do you know if you can alter the burn speed of those programs though?

    Modifying burn speed means that the burner uses a different laser intensity to fix the data on the CD layer. Of course, you can set high speed only if the burner's laser is very powerful.
    You could say, roughly, that '1x' means = '100% power', '2x' = '98% power' and so on.

    Now burners are more advanced than in the past; this mean that now they are capable to be at '100% power' when the burn at, say, 4x speed.
    This means that you cannot lower burn speed less than that, because you already have 100% burning efficiency.
    cd-rw.org also posted, on the README1ST thread
    so maybe this is a reason for lowering write speed under a certain threshold is not akllowed.
