    I'm having a problem.

first i tried Shrink and got an error message that the dvd was copy protected (duh).

so i saw some posts that said decrypter worked to rip some that shrink can't so I followed the guide for using decrypter to rip to an iso file to burn later with shrink (bcs the dvd is too big without shrink) but now decrypter quit working on me too. it stops at about 45% and gives me an I/O error: unrecovered read error.

what might the prob be? Thanks

    kcole,

You could try cleaning the disc. Did you check verify in Decrypter? If so, uncheck it. And give this a try... Run the movie with PowerDVD or WinDVD first, then use Shrink. Or try AnyDVD or DVD43.

Yea, Open the movie with PowerDVD, and run movie for at least a minute. Then open shrink, let shrink detect the movie, then shut down PowerDVD. And then continue with Shrink.

I started playing the dvd on winDVD first and received the same error during the analysing phase of Shrink.

    any other thoughts?

Just install it. It will run by itself in the background disabling any encryption. Just make sure its smiling .. then open Shrink and try to rip. Good luck.

Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Failed to read file E:
    Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

    now what?

Hey, much better than encrypted error message!! Data error (cyclic redundancy check) usually means a dirty disc.. try giving your source disc a cleaning and try again. :)

Okay, I think I've got it! Thanks again for the help.

Will DVD43 "help out" with both Shrink and Decrypter or just with Shrink?

DVD43 will work with anything, just runs in the background... only purpose is to disable encryption. Will work with Nero Recode 2, Shrink, Decrypter, any XCopy RF software, etc... One thing though, there has been discussion that DVD43 is not longer free. People say it's a trial version and after 30 it expires. Keep in mind DVD43 is suppose to be free, so just keep this in mind. I know v1.4 is still totally free.
