I have burnt 500+ movies on this computer using DVD Decrypter and Shrink ( rip with decrypter, shrink, then write with decrypter). My computer is a P4 1.6 Liteon 1633 burner. Saturday it crashed ( I think a virus ). I was running windows 2000. This time I did a fresh install of XP sp2. I can rip with decrypter but will not write since xp. I tried Nero and shrink. In Nero I was able to make a copy using a +RW but not a +R or -R. This is my Nero error log. Any help would be great!!! ***************************** Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'I:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 5:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.16 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 16b (Nero Express) Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BS0S - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <JLMS XJ-HD166S >Version: DS18 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG SP0802N atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG SP2014N atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : JLMS XJ-HD166S atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S G: CDRom0 JLMS XJ-HD166S H: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 511MB (523760kB) Free physical memory: 218MB (223452kB) Memory in use : 57 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 31.1.2006 Burn DVD Image 6:09:05 PM #1 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 6:09:05 PM #2 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S running 6:09:05 PM #3 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 6:09:05 PM #4 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 1877301 (417:10.51, 3666MB) 6:09:05 PM #5 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 6:09:05 PM #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: RITEKF - 1 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 6:09:05 PM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 6:09:05 PM #8 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (2 - CD-ROM Mode 1, Joliet) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 1877302 (1877302) = #1877302/417:10.52 not relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/not required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 1877302 blocks [LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S] -------------------------------------------------------------- 6:09:05 PM #9 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Try updating your firmware, latest is byos. Update from here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934 Latest version of Nero released Jan 31 is 6.6.1.4, go to Nero site and upgrade.
Just updated firmware. I'm just adding to my coaster collection. I don't want to but maybe I should go back to Windows 2000. It worked great for me before. Anybody have any other ideas?
@beasty666 Uninstall InCD - then run nero InCD clean tool to remove all traces. InCD is packet writing software that can interfere w/ the burn process. Here's a link for the clean tool: http://nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html Nero's telling you your drive doesn't like the disc. Ritek has given me problems on a LiteOn burner before. Try Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
I uninstalled Incd without any luck just more coasters. Any help please! I'm using Memorex pack of 100. Using Win 2000 I burnt 85 no problems. Using XP I coastered 14. Have 1 left!
@beasty666 Well since you only have one left than you need to buy some new blanks. This may solve your problem since the log is saying your drive doesn't like the disc. Buy some verbatim or taiyo yuden.
@binkie7 My burner loves Memorex it burnt 85 perfect same 100 pack with Win 2000. With XP it made 15 coasters from same 100 pack. I dug up two Fuji. XP also made them coasters ( 1 with Decrypter and 1 with Clone dvd+ Any dvd )I read on another forum about Musicmatch Jukebox causing problems so I disabled it. No go. I took another harddrive with Win 2000 on it put in computer without changing anything else. It burnt 2 perfect copies 1 with decrypter and 1 with clone dvd. How can this be? I want to run XP but my only choice right now is to run Win 2000. Any more ideas Please!! Here is a decrypter log!! I 17:03:47 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started! @beasty666 The pc's I burn w/ all have xp sp2 and I used to a pc w/ 2000 server. So it can be done on xp - the problem is finding the problem with your specs. The last thing I can think of is aspi. Go into Nero > Nero Tool Kit> nero Info Tool. Click on the aspi tab. Does it say corrupt? The aspi driver is like the communicator between the s/f and your drive. That may be the problem. Here's a link for a apsi driver: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/su...duct/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe&sess=no Know for the memerox - watch them - they don't come highly recommended and are usually made by cmc - which is the pits. Luckily you got riteks.
@binkie7 My aspi driver was not installed so I installed it is working correctly. I also bought some blanks, Imation +R and -R. I put in a -R and it made a coaster. I put in a +R and it made a perfect copy. What gives? A +R works but not a -R
@beasty666 Well at least we're making progress! Imiation is another brand to watch out - again they use many different manufacturers - alot are pretty bad. Run a blank thru decryper or nero tool kit and post back the manufacturer on each of them (- and +). Was the -r coaster a burn failure or a playback issue?
I ran into this problem with a laptop. Never did find out why but the burner will not write a -R disk over 8X. It will burn +R at 16X but try to put in a -R 16X and no way. The problem points towards firmware but that didn't help either. Try using DVD 8X or less. 16x +DVD should work in your burner. Hope this helps.

@beasty666 Well I hate to break the news to you but you're probably gonna have a few more burn failures w/ the -r's. The +r's too. Both are made by the worst manufacturer - CMC. What you get in the spindle isn't even consistent. The only thing consistent about this manufacturer is it gives burns errors! Some will work some won't. Even if they do burn they end up degrading causing crc errors if trying to rip again or playback problems. Switch to the good, consistent no problem media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. What brand did you use for the prev 500 backups?
@gwendolin Unfortunatley 'back in the day' I used the cheap stuff like cmc & princo. Learned my lesson fast! At least I had only done about 100 before switching to quality.
I also did the same, however some noobs dont like being told that the media they are using is CRAP. We know through experience but some just dont want to hear it...SAD
You dont seem to understand what we are trying to tell you, the media you are using is NO GOOD, get another brand as recommended by Binkie7
