so after standing in line the night of nov. 22 for 17 hours in the freezing cold rain..i got my 360 and have been playing the hell out of it since. today though i got the red light of death, she wont do anything, no loading screen, no 360 logo, just a red light! isnt that great! so ms is sending me an empty box to send it in. im going to buy a memory unit so i can plug it and my harddrive into a friends 360 and backup my saved games. was wondering how many ppl got there same unit back with the same hard-drive vs ppl that got a new one? and what do i need to save to make sure i keep my gamer score and stuff?
ur GS is stored online aslong as you've atleast logged into the XBL service. i sent mine back, and recieved a new unit and new hard-drive, so i had to restart my exsisting games, which was alright because i missed somethings in condemned and stuff that i wanted to make sure i got the first time around, but missed, but as far as the playin on a bud's system and want your score to be saved, u should have a new unit by next friday if u sent it out tomorrow.
yup, aslong as when u unlock achievements on your mates 360 u go onlive w/ ur account it should update your GS automatically. in theory that's how it would work, i also hypothetically store a profile on a memory card (theory as i don't have one) so i assume nomatter what unit u play on aslong as u go on live it would update the GS but to continue where u left off, yeah just save on the mem. unit. if that makes sense at all.?
dude just send it without the harddrive if they didnt tell u to enclose it. when i sent mine in it had specific instruction on sending the xbox without anything so im like hmm and took off the hdd. To my suprise when i got a new one back it came with a new hdd. So now i have 2. You wont have to worry about your save files and will prob get a 2nd one, if u dont atleast u dont have to worry bout your save files.
