Trouble deleting avi. files in XP? Delete folder "InProcServer32" from Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32 This keeps MS from trying to load ALL avi files, feezing explorer.exe and or Internet Explorer. Ya DON'T need it! You can't get there from "Search"! Click on "start", then "Run", type in "regedit". Enter. A butt-load of folder openings, leads to one folder, "InProcServer32" Highlight and delete. End of problem. Does not crap out any other functions. MS MAY re-install at some point. Show hidden files and check if any deleted avi. files are still in your video files folder. Delete them. They will show as dulled Icons for opening applications. I've rebooted a thousand times on account of this SP1 glitch! DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE!!! JR ;-}
ok i dont know if i understand much but if you get a program called "system mechanic" it will remove all the programes from the reg you have deleted and cleans the system from all the tmp files and internet sites youve visited, pretty good hope it helps
What the Hell am I on about? Obviously you don't have the problem and don't get out much. Many do. Many sites tell you WHAT to do, but not HOW. I'm sure there are many who know what I am "on" about. I hope you continue with NO PROBLEMS. JR
Fair enough Ive not got SP1 & dont need it(or ASPI come to think of it). XP Pro runs okay for me (maybe I am just lucky) I get out & about just fine BTW : )
