I've had my dell 1501 less than a year and already it's beginning to overheat and automaticlly shut down usually in the middle of warcraft. and this isn't WOW...this is warcraft III so it shouldn't be working so hard. also when it shuts down i flip it to the back and it smells somewhat burnt. i have called the tech people and they're sending me a box.

is anyone else having these problem with dell? i have done research and there are other models listed that are overheating but dell 1501 isn't one of them. is there anything i can do myself that won't void the warranty. i do set it on the table and it still overheats.

ah i'm so mad!! i'm scared the only thing dell will do at the depot for me is replace it with another dell 1501 =(

It doesnt sound like overheating if you smell smoke - something fried.

Do you know the specs by any chance?

if it is overheating & shutting down then open the case & clean out the cpu heatsink fan assembly as most likely clogged with dust.
