I have a Dell Dimension 4300 and I want to upgrade its RAM to 384 MB by adding a 256 MB stick. The technical specifications on Dell's website say that it has the following memory capacities: 64-, 128-, 256-, and 512-MB non-ECC or ECC SDRAM. Does this mean I can't have 384 MB's of RAM? I tried contacting Dell by email and chat support but they ask for my service tag number and I can't find it. The link on their website inspects your computer but it was unable to detect a number. Here's a link to the technical specifications page if it helps: http://support.jp.dell.com/docs/systems/dim4300/specs.htm.
your link doesn't work but yes can put 384meg sdram not ddr ram into computer by installing a 256meg with existing 128meg
ddp is right ... you need to add SDRAM PC133 this is the right link http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4300/specs.htm#1101572 and I believe you should put the 256mb stick in the first bank. so put it where the existing 128mb stick
