Is it compatible? I am using a Dell Precision 530 Workstation, and my sisters old computer is not powering up and its a Dell Dimension 8200. I want to give my computer a little more juice, so could I take the memory out of my sisters old computer and put it in mine, and if so how would I install it, or get the computer to recognize it or is it automatic? I appreciate the help guys!
The Dell Precision 530 Workstation from what I found seems to run RDRAM Modules and the Dimension 8200 seems to come with a variety of different types you would need to examine the ramm sticks from both machines to see if the are the same type and speed ie sd ddr etc your question seems to indicate that you know very little about PC's so I would either do a a lot of googling on PC upgrading and ram or get you local repair shop to do it for you
Yeah I'll probably open up the systems tomorrow and check out what the other computers memory is. Yeah I dont really know alot about PCs haha! I'll check it out and get back to you. Thanks for the info buddy
instead of popping open the case, you can always just run some program that reads your computer specs. something like everest, or crucial.com can scan too see what ram you have.
