Im not sure which I should go with. Specs seem similar. The OEM burner goes for $250, if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you need a +/- burner?? If not then get the Pioneer DVR105, it is amazing. The 106 is gret too, but a lot more expensive just to have the +r feature

Doesnt the a06 have an 8x write speed? I would think that would be worth the extra money....Also, I think i want to buy the most capable burner possible, that way i dont regret it later.

It most certainly does not have an 8x speed, you are thinking of the DVR107 which is out in december.

Although some may disagree with me, but I think Dell uses some quality stuff in their set ups. I have not had a bad set up from Dell where they used cheap crappy stuff that you don't want. I've purchased three systems from them and they all exceeeded expectations.

    Just me two cents...

Dell build possibly the best in terms of quality computers around. I think we are bit off topic though ;-)

dell doesn't make drive, Pioneer is the one sells drive to Dell and they assemble them, however if you want to buy drive only here is what you could find best deal at www.pricewatch.com for what you are looking for, but I just bought one from www.shop4tech.com with some media, who offers very good price and seems to me it is a good deal.

    Orphius,

Once again I ask, where can I see info on this DVR-107.

    Dell only uses +R format

kensb2, if youre going to shell out 250$ might as well get the 106 which can do both +-R

Yo DVD RAM. I said Dell uses quality stuff, as in hardware, in their systems.

Why are you still here spamming the site?

I suggest everyone avoid Shop4Tech.com. I got nothing but horrendous service from them. They were rude and could hardly speak English. They cheated me on an order and refused to credit me back for that order. Avoid them at all costs.

Im afraid you are just going to have to trust me on the DVR107 info. It will be out at Christmas and it will have 8x writing.

Insane, I rarely use the 4x speed on my dvr-105 cuz 1x media is so much cheaper. I wonder what the prices of 8x blank dvd media going to be.

Insane, hmm... 1x media ritek cloned disc: £0.79 and 4x is what??? £0.99 Thats not soo much cheaper. Also, what i find insane is people burning a DVD that takes and hour on a writer that can do it in 15mins. Whenever the DVR107 is out, ill be getting one, so while you burn movies in an hour - ill have 8 done!!
