I looked through the posts, but could not find anything. My computer seemed fine until I turned it on today and discovered that the Desktop Icons and toolbar had disappeared. I can open programs and the internet using the task manager but the desktop is inactive. Everything I found on the internet said to right click the desktop, but that does not give me the drop down menu. I also found pages that said to go to Start-Run-and different commands, but I have no start because the menu/toolbar is gone. I use windows XP home edition. Any help Would be greatly appreciated.

When I try to do anything on the desktop, nothing happens but I can access all programs through the task manager.

Try to right click on that bar thingy where it shows the files are open. then it should say : Show Desktop.
