Just got myself a PSP with fw 1.5. I want to install Devhook 5.2 to run the latest images. Can some one tell me if Devhook has to be flashed to rom or can it be installed on the memory stick. I dont want to start flashing in case I brick it. Any advice would be great
Dont bother with Devhook, its basically dead software now since the OE firmware updates came out. Update your PSP to 3.03OE-C and you wont need Devhook http://rapidshare.com/files/13441698/303oe_C_Simple_Install.rar
Ok thanks, but do you know if Devhook needs to be flashed?. Is it risky updating (flashing) with 3.03OE-C, Can the PSP's be bricked?.
Not if you do it properly....with this all you do is put the 2 update folders in your PSP/GAME folder and run the update...done. Ive done about 10 of 'em no probs. I believe some Devhooks do write to the flash, but Ive not used it for a while so not sure which one is which anymore.
Yes, if you changed your mind you could go back to 1.5 but you wont want to. 3.03OE-C lets you play ISOs without Devhook and also lets you play PS1 games....you wont look back !
Thanks dude, Im just a little afraid of flashing a brand new PSP. Have you heard of any brick cases? Is the Devhook flashing as risky as upgrading the firmware.
I wouldnt say there's much risk. Im not lying when I say Ive done various downgrades / upgrades on about 25 PSPs and had no probs with any of em. At some point you'll have to do it to keep up as Devhook wont progress any further now....just go for it !
Thats a good question, You guys can Beta the firmware, Im sticking with devhook untill I have to change
