I just had the motherboard replaced on my pc but there is a problem everytime my home phone rings my pc turns on. I got a feeling that someone may have installed a spyware on my pc I guess someone is trying to tap in to my landline phone. any feedback would be graetly apprecited. cheers.
moved to correct forum. check in your bios under power management or something like that to see if there is a setting for the modem to turn on the computer & turn it off or disable it.
How is your modem connected? It sounds like a bizarre problem, but it could be something to do with wake on LAN.
Hmm, I can only assume somehow the modem is misinterpreting phone line activity. All I can suggest right now, is when you turn your PC off, turn the switch at the back of the unit off (you'll save power by doing that anyway), then this won't happen.
