Yes, This has been answered already. Use Decrypter and burn to a DL or rip with Decrypter and reauthor with Dvd Shrink and then burn to a single layer.

I backed it up with Shrink and Nero, with AnyDVD running in the background.
I didn't have any problem at all.
    Good luck!

I backed it up with dvdfab and had no problems. It did not even have to compress it. If your going to spend the money to get anydvd you mine as well get a software that does it all for the same price. Either way it pays for itself if you think about it. I use Dvdfab expess for $55 and I just put it in and it does everthing no problem. Remember that dvdshrink is not being updated so you will have to find alternative means soon anyway. I use to use the free stuff but you bought the burner and the blanks now finish buying your investment. There are many out there so research them first. Happy burning. :)

all i would suggest is DVD Shrink on its own (to do movie-only) - this is how i do ALL my movies. For the rare films Shrink can't handle i use DVD Decrypter on it's own. Then Shrink from there if necessary. Then Nero6 to burn.
I would buy anydvd, but only if decrypter doesn't keep up with protections (which i don't see happening yet as lightning uk is always eagerly keeping up to date)

@Ribbit - congrats on the media choice.. but not meaning to lean off topic, yup, shrink and decrypter are all that's needed if ppl want to use free software..

well we have seem to lost the point of the thread but thank you everyonoe for the help. Dvdfab has not let me down yet and i allways but at 4x with all hardware updates. So I will promote it like I did with dvdxcopy till it fails badly as did dvdxcopy.

@kicks3474 - for freezes, this could be too high a burn speed, or crap media, or both. Failing that it could be other things , we'd need more info.

as for finalising, you only do that with CD's or rewritable dvd's, don't think the PS2 likes rewritables
