I'm sorry to sound completly stupid, but could someone please tell me what the difference is between a cd2mp3 encoder, cd2mp3 decoder, and cd2mp3 ripper is? I'm sorry to ask such a dumb question but i am new at this.

A ripper removes the files/music from a cd or dvd and places them on your hard drive in the format you tell it to, or in the format it is made to rip into. Hence the name....it rips them off the disc.

An encoder will change the format of the file. For example...if you have a .wav file and want to convert it to an mp3, you'll use an encoder to do this.

I think a decoder would be something that takes a copy protected or encrypted file and creates a file you can use for other purposes, minus the encryption.

I'm not an expert at all this, but I saw that nobody had answered u yet and figgered I'd give it a shot. If I am incorrect about any of it, someone will chime in and correct me._X_X_X_X_X_[small]There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)[/small]

A decoder is used simply to decode a compressed file (such as an MP3) back to .wav. You encode to compress and decode to uncompress.
