Difference between firmwares

Could someone clear something up for me I have a starview 2 the box running 4.52e_E Boot ver 7.0 and wanted to know if the older 4.51 firmware gives you better epg or stability as my starview does work but the EPG usually only works when I first switch the box on and occasionally my box will be on and then restart itself anyone know what his is? if your in the uk i'm told 451 is more stable,the epg is never the best on starview,s.

 

on my one of them 4.52 the epg is grand but then sometimes you go to check it and it says nothing and you have to turn the box off and back on. i think it reboots as sometimes i go back in and the screen's small again. but 4.50 freezes and reboots when you try to look at the epg most times. the epg on starview 3 is good if you wait for it to come up.

 

as a well known addict once said you'd be better off going out and buying a tv guide ,once the channels are ok thats all that counts really

 

Thx ill leave the firmware as is but does anyone know if theres a fix for the aspect ratio because say you watch set@nta sports it is in 4:3 with the black lines either side so you have to press blue and its fine but then if you go to sky sports after doing that the screen is zoomed in so you have to sitch it off at the back and switch back on. Ive tried changing the settings in user settings but no luck. Any idea?

 

i know, we can live with it. all we really need to know is now and next which they tell you. the epg on the starview 1 is really bad and the station changes when you press up or down (useless) so i'd be buying a tv guide if i had one of them. we still get to watch tv and have the stations which is the main reason so i see what you're saying karl

 

thats always been like that. it's annoying but ah well it's free tv.

 

Try the 4.51 & see if thats more stable (you`ve nothing to lose), if not go back to the 4.52

I put the 4.51 firmware on it and prety much the same although after about twenty minutes of watching it i turned over and the picture went pink and green and scrambled and then just restart. Strange. Still it works fine though.

Can someone tell me why the box keeps restarting every so often after ive updated it.

 

4.50 and 4.51 are faulty on the epg and sometimes freeze and go pink and or green and reboot 10 seconds later. try 4.53 and if not 4.54 but if this doesn't bother you do as karl says and buy a tv guide.

 

any preference in tv guide as i seem to be missing a few channels

 

After upgrading to 4.54 the aspect ratio is fixed and hasnt restarted once My favourite firmware. Thanks for info.
