I tried using VirtualDub to join my two avi files but when I try to to "Append the Avi Segment" I get this error "Cannot append segment "C:.......movie.avi": The audio streams have different sampling rates (28326.00000 vs. 28415.00000). How do I fix this?

This is because your 2 files use VBR Mp3 audio, to Solve this Problem you Must decompress the audio in Both files before you Join them together....

To do this you Load in your First File into V-Dub and set the "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy" and then set the "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode" and then go to "file" to "Save as AVI" and Save the File...Then Repeat for the Second File and when you are Done you Can Join the 2 New Files together without any problems....

    Cheers

    thanks for the reply.

I'm new converting avi to dvd and just read a couple of guides on here on afterdawn. It seems it takes very long TMPGenc to convert my movies...around 6-5 hours while when I used DivxtoDVD it only took about 1-2 hour. I haven't completed any conversion yet with TMPGenc but I did completed a conversion with DivxtoDVD, so I'm not sure if the quality would be better if I converted it with TMPGenc

If you used Tmpgenc or any other Good Quality standalone Mpeg encoder you would Get Better quality than when useing DivXtoDVD But you would also have to use a seperate DVD Authoring Program to Put the Mpeg-2 file that Tmpgenc Created on to a DVD so the Process would Take even Longer But when doing it this way you get to add your Own menu"s and Chapters Like on Retail DVD"s....

There are other encoders that produce Just as Good of Quality as Tmpgenc but are Much faster Like the "MainConcept Encoder" which is up to 5 Times as Fast as Tmpgenc or even "CinemaCraft encoder SP" which is even faster than that But is Very Difficult to use unless you have a Advanced Knowlege of Mpeg encodeing and Digital video.....

    Cheers

really...very interesting....can you be kind enough to provide with a link on how to use these programs then? I'm really interested in making my own Menus and Chapters or import already made ones to my movies IF there are any.

That error means that you do not have the codec installed that is needed to Playback the audio in the AVI file....

Do you know what the audio format is in your AVI file?? If you Load the File into V-Dub and go to "File" to "File Information" it should tell you what the audio format is Or you can Right Click the File and go to "Properties" and it should tell you...

If you want to learn how to add your Own Menu"s and Chapters to your DVD then you should start out with something Simple that will take your AVI files and Put them on to DVD instead of having to use a seperate encoder...Something like "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" is good for that or "Sonic MyDVD"...Sory I don"t Know of any Guides that will explain how to do it step by step....

yeah thats the problem I do have the codec to play it already. I just dont know why I get that message when I use V-Dub. Is there some audio decompressor I don't know about. I got ffdshow installed, divx6.0, xvid, and ac3 filter.

TMPGEnc will join files for you but only mpg files. Main window>File>MPEG Tool>Merge and Cut. Just add your encoded files, enter any name for it you want and hit run. I use TMPGEnc Plus for this and have never failed yet (fast too-about 10 min for me).

Well if you PM me with your E-Mail address I can send you a Small tool that is used for decompressing the audio in AVI Files and it works Much Better than V-Dub does for this Particular Job....
