I've tried this on a few different discs, both Maxell 8X +R and Verbatim 16X +R, and I find it really odd. When running a disc quality scan in Nero CD-DVD Speed, I get drastically different results from the two drives in my computer. One is a Lite-On SHM-165H6S purchased a few weeks ago, the other is another Lite-On SOHC-5235k combo drive about 6-7 months old. I've tried scanning at 4X,8X and 12X, and whenever I scan in the combo drive the PIF errors pile up incredibly quickly, while there are barely any at all when I scan the same disk using the newer drive. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Is the combo drive just bad, or what?
