I’ve done a lot of research and can’t find an exact answer that I want. I’m a noob so spare me. What I’ve learned is dv-avi is the way to go from camcorder to pc. I’ve have a digital 8 Sony dcr trv280 camcorder. I transferred the camcorder files through my firewall port to an external hard drive by using the program windows movie maker. The files are avi. I’m looking for a program to convert the dv-avi format into mpeg2 so I can burn the movie file onto dvd w/o losing any picture quality or to keep it at a minimal. Would pinnacle studio ultimate plus 12 be a sufficient program? I bought a Sony HD hdr sr11 60 GB camcorder, so I will also be burning avchd files onto standard DVD+r as well. I want to get rid of my old camcorder which used the digital 8 tapes. Just want to transfer my old movies onto DVD w/o losing minimal picture quality. Any suggestions? Greatly appreciate any feedback. sorry if I posted this in the wrong forums. didn't know if i should post it here or in the camcorder forums.
