hi folks, im relatively new to all of this so any help appreciated. ive recently set up a digivox t in kilkenny, have over 100 channels but more than often the picture is breaking up and the sound also, every couple of seconds even. sometimes its 100% perfect, i cant seem to get to the bottom of this, ive checked all connections and made sure my aerial is good and steady. level is at about 88% and quality varies from high 50% to low 70%. can anyone please shed some light on this for me please. cheers
This is either a signal problem or a faulty tuner.I would advise you if there is a possibility of borrowing a box from someone that works and try it on your signal. The new tuners on the Digivox T by and large are better than the older versions and so is the firmware. But alas I have come across a few faulty ones.
thanks very much phil i will try that as soon as i can lay my hands on a box. strange though that sometimes its perfect, youd imagine faulty box = problem all the time not just sometimes
more then likely a signal problem, did you install ariel or is a proper chorus ariel, your signal strength should be at least 80 or above to receive without breaking up, have you line of sight to transmitter!
hi lads since ye are talking bout digivox t.ye might be able to help me.im looking for the firmware ror ch..us land could some point me in the right direction.i only got the box yesterday and need it up and running.
Tomhick02 is correct. I have found that unless the both the Signal and quality is above 80% then you run into problems. Even at 70% I will start to lose channels
ive just swapped boxes with someone. mine works perfect in their house but my tv is still breaking up like mad with their box.the only difference i can see is that level has shot up to 99% and quality down to about 55%. it seems that my box is fine as its perfect in the other house, im starting to wonder about the downconverter, could this be faulty? what do they do or how do you test them? skywonder sell downconverters but it does not look exactly the same as mine..... and no i do not have a clear line of sight to transmitter just a ditch and a house in the way. its a proper chorus aerial i installed myself. this is doing my head in, its breaking up so bad you could not possibly look at it so any help is appreciated folks.
its your signal thats causing it not the box, it sounds to me that your aerial is not lined proper or that the signal is shite, with signal down to 55 will cause major break up
ok ive just put my own box back in. level is at 87%, and quality is at an average of 64%, varying from 60 - 70%. still breaking up terrible. the box i borrowed is from a house 200 yards down the road and theirs is perfect, so in my eyes that eliminates that signal in the area is crap. i cant get any better by tweeking the aerial, do you reckon i should just keep trying? thanks for reply
maybe its your connections look here how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzoGX6ef4y8 also where did ya get your downconverter it might be old
thanks or reply daithi, yes connections are fine, im an electrician id be certain im doing it right, my down converter is old i did not get it new but ive seen one the exact same working just down the road from me.....
coupe seen youre problem recently , and like you tried everything except the power supply then we changed it for the old style chorus ones which are 24 volts it worked a treat i am 99% certain its youre power supply, those new ones are crap they seem to work ok if you have a strong signal in youre area, good luck...........
thanks jack, the power supply that came with the box was 18v, so i bought a 24v one off skywonder, you still reckon i need a different one again?
When you say your downconverter is old it probably is an old anologue one.Unless your very close to transmitter these are not worth a shit.Check on side of downconverter (if its a Ch##us 1) it should say 222 or 214 depending on which area you are in.With regards to your power pack why not try your mates one that is working to eliminate that from the equation.
coupe the 24 volt will work and solve youre problem the only problem trying youre mates one is it wont be conclusive cause he may be receiving a slightly stronger signal, the reason for youre picture breaking up is the power supply heats then cools down and so on hence picture/no picture or distorted pic, the 18 volts just is not good enough as i said i have witnessed this problem recently could get 2 hours without interference then break up and then nothing at all,we changed the power supply after we had changed aerial-downconverter-new cable and connections and so on to no avail.the 24 volt supply has worked a treat showing signal strenght and quality now at 85/87% which gives a steady good quality picture all the time if this doesnt work i will eat my shorts better wash them just in case, please let me know how you get on........
tcheers lads.i hope you did wash your shorts jack,ha ha! ive already said ive bought a 24v supply from sky wonder and im still having same problem. yes the down converter prob is analogue but in my mates house their signal is perfect and their converter is actually older! AAARGH! it wont stop breaking up.
did ya hop on your roof and see if theres any obstructions and maybe your neighbours is older but that dont mean yours aint fooked with water or something
coupe correct me if i am wrong the power supply skywonder advertise on their homepage is 18 volts only are you sure you have 24 volt supply????
