direct x problem

    Hi, i have a legit copy of xp/sp2. i want to install directx 9.0c. however no matter how many times i try, it will not upgrade from dx8.0. Someone please point me in the right direction, or am i going to have to do a full re-install of xp (please god no !!). dx9.0c says it has installed and is ready for use, but if i run dxdiag it still says dx8.0. Please help.

    Your video card may not support DirectX 9.0. What is the make and model of your video card?

    many thanks, i downloaded sp2 again and reinstalled it, and now it all seems to be fine. many thanks again for the quick reply

    If the syste crashs during a game or anyhtign involved with DX it can couprt DX files and not let games and stuff paly,but you normal can just reinstall it unlike 80% of XP stuff *L*
