Im interested in this too. I know that you plug the cables into your pci card, then it does somethings and sends it out to your reciever. You must have programs running on your pc to get it to work. I could do this, but I don't know the name on the software needed.
You guys decided to try to jump on the wagon a little to late. As of this point in time direct tv's p4 can't be hacked. Some believe that it is hacked but will not be made available to the general public. The p3 card that was hacked stopped working in Febuary. Try dishnetwork or Free-to-air recievers if you are interested in satelite testing. A good site to learn with is DSShelper.com. One suggestion, if you do join the site, read and use the search button before you start asking questions. They make a big deal out of repeating themselves. It's interesting stuff. Have fun.
